Not many people delight in watching “used murky and white” movies anymore. The claims I hear most are that there isn’t enough action, there are no special effects, and the plots are insensible. Many of those same complaints can be made about novel movies as well. The biggest inequity is that you can’t catch your whole family to eye those films because of all the swearing, violence, and sex whereas a family can bask in watcing an broken-down film together without any disaster of having to blind the youngsters eyes and conceal their ears.
AMAZING ADVENTURE is not a mountainous movie; it’s unprejudiced the usual hurry of the mill esteem account. However, there is one exception that makes the movie a par above the rest: Cary Grant. I have yet to contemplate a dreadful movie in which he acted. Not only that, but Grant had the rare ability to steal even the most mudane movie moments and transform them into cinematic magic. Such is the case with Unbelievable ADVENTURE. The region of the movie revolves around a rich young man who has inherited a expansive fortune. He finds himself becoming ill and seeks the relieve and advice of a doctor. The doctor tells him that he is physically fit, but is affected by the disease of money. He places a bet with the young man, animated him to work for one year by his maintain means and not by using his inherited fortune. What follows is the “fantastic adventure” as Grant moves from one job to the next, learning lessons of humility, and falling in cherish. Youngsters may salvage the movie stupid, but adults will probably delight in it and the lessons the film instills can’t be heard enough in contemporary society.
If I was ever amazed by an inexpensive DVD, this was the one. Obvious, time has taken its toll on the film print. Certain, the transfer to DVD could be better, in fact it could have been remarkable better. But, IF you are able to ignore some natural degradation, a diminutive grain, and a couple of minor skips(not enough to interfer with continuity) YOU ARE IN FOR A Genuine TREAT!
With its “Depression Era” overtones, this movie exemplifies many forgotten attitudes, ambitions and values of the 1930’s. It presents certain character lessons that are timeless in relevance. Belief it once, and then understanding it again with your grandparents/grandchildren. You may be surprised by their comments.

For some staunch comedy pay particular attention to the apartment fight scene. You might have to push the “end” button until you finish laughing.
My guess is that this DVD will be highly enjoyed by all ages under 10, over 50, and all those between 11 and 49 who are able to perceive beyond the purely superficial.

Not taking anything away from “The Flintstones” or “The Jetsons” or any of the other gargantuan Hanna Barbera cartoons, but “Top Cat” may unprejudiced be the funniest, hippest, smartest reveal HB ever establish out. From the writing, the backgrounds, setting the display in a steady (as opposed to fictional) city–New York–and Gershwin-esq music ques, every episode of “Top Cat” is quality comedy from the first frame to the last. I absolutely loved this present as a kid, and now that I’m an adult I can observe it with a recent appreciation for the talent that went into making it.

Seven characters voiced by six colossal actors (The astounding Leo de Lyon pulled double duty as the explain of both Brain and Spook), each with a sure and endearing personality. Arnold Stang is brilliantly cast as Top Cat, bringing a sensitivity and vulnerability to the role of this “hukster.” Maurice Gosfield is hilarious as the delicious Benny the Ball, as is Marvin Kapland as Choo-Choo. And Allen Jenkins is perfect as officer Dribble, er, I mean Dibble. Really, the only character who doesn’t do mighty for me is Fancy-Fancy, but the episodes tend to leave him and Spook (whom I do like) a bit more in the background than the other characters.
Combine vast characters with colossal actors and substantial writing and you rep some colossal comedy. In the first episode, “Hawaii Here We Reach,” the opening shot of puny Benny hula dancing and singing “Aloha Hoyiiiiie!” is objective one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. And in that same episode they seem to buy a swipe at Disney with a line about Davy Crockett and “that song,” which Dibble tries to remember but comes up with “Daaaavy Crockett, with the googlie eyes . . . no, that’s not it.”

This is most definitely a explain for all ages. Kids will like the droll cats, and adults will relish the more subtle aspects of the humor. On that basis alone I’d recommend this DVD, but wait! There’s more!
This DVD package has some colossal extras. The documentary Support to Hoagy’s Alley, hosted by Leo de Lyon (Spook and Brain) is very nice, and I really treasure the interview with Mr. T.C. himself, Arnold Stang. I have watched one of the commentaries so far, and that’s very helpful as well, and I contemplate forward to watching the other two. Video quality is satisfactory and holds up even on my 42″ plasma. My only complaint (objective a nit-pick, really) is that disc 4 is two sided so you have to flip it over. Couldn’t they have made it single sided, dual-layered instead? Oh, well, not really well-known.
In short, if you are a fan of TV animation from the 50s and 60s then you must earn this situation. It’s a shame that T.C. only got 30 episodes (though they were shown for years on Sat. mornings) . This prove should have gone on remarkable longer. But maybe with this DVD release T.C. will earn some current fans and the point to will gain the large recognition it deserves.
During the 70’s and 80’s Mexican television (Televisa) was too cheap to assume any current programs, so they kept on showing the same shows OVER and OVER, Pink Panther, the first Spiderman series, Here Comes the Grump, Señorita cometa and others became cult classics to my generation. Among these shows stands out Top Cat (Don Gato), particularly because of the genius of the dubbing artists who gave regional Mexican accents to the different cats, and would often insert off-color humor into the explain (some of which only now, upon seeing these again) I’m finally getting. I was a bit timorous when I bought the location because I didn’t know if the spanish dub was included and recent, but I was not dissapointed.
Now, if I can only catch a DVD of Señorita Cometa or Here Comes the Grump I’ll be really elated reliving my childhood.

…this film is (for the lack of a better word) a dream–a dream you would not willingly want to wake up from. Completely and utterly mesmerizing, “The Dreamers” pays homage to film, Paris, the 60’s, and admire. Apart from some of the awkward moments this movie tends to indicate sporadically, the movie itself was not mired by the abnormalities of some of the main characters. Though, this movie is one of the greatest I’ve ever viewed, it is not for everyone and cannot be readily recommended without reviewing some of the pros and cons I caught.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Dreamers! Click Here
CONS:
-First off, if you’re offended, in any plot, by frontal nudity from either sex… caution: it contains a lot!
-For some, if the ending is a chief factor in deciding that you like a movie, it is possible you could be dissapointed (it ends in an unlikely manner) . But if you can devour the ending, it doesn’t wound the film at all… Maybe people were disappointed by the ending because they didn’t want it to extinguish
-If not accustomed to slower-moving movies, based on a load of chronicle depth or the like opposed to action or thiller movies, then it could be a let down.

But the cons are heavily outweighed by the pros…
PROS:
-For film buffs, Bertolucci doesn’t dissapoint. The b/w segments intermingled within the storyline are anything short of genius and, for me, was the most pleasing and absorbing section of this movie.
-For anti-censorship viewers, this movie could seem to be sent from heaven, because it doesn’t leave powerful out.
-The acting is on a par with almost perfection, all three main characters are played flawlessly and completely capture on the people they are supposed to evoke… Eva Green is especially unbelievable.
-The soundtrack is noble as well. The tone that the music sets is completely appropriate and only adds to the dreamy atomsphere of the film; totally reminiscent of the 60’s.
-A perfect representation of Paris in the 60’s; eventhough the film’s centerpoint is the main characters and their relationship with one another, the artist’s home of Europe couldn’t be portrayed to be more pleasing (with the exception of the student riots in foreground) .
It is difficult to cessation thinking of this movie, even between viewing other movies… if I could i’d give it six stars.
Bertolucci’s revolutionary film takes area in the tumultous summer of 1968 in which a young American, Matthew (Michael Pitt) has near to Paris to seek French. He becames a cinephile and a frequent patron of the Cinemateque Francais, the breeding ground for the Unusual Wave movement. Shortly after the firing of Langlois, he meets fellow cinephiles Isabelle (Eva Green) and Theo (Louis Cassel) and scores an invitation to dinner.

That’s how it begins, but this movie isn’t linear and it cannot be deciphered merely by the order of events. Quite frankly, I was amazed by Fox Searchlight releasing what may be one of the most revolutionary and sexually progressive films of novel years. In the streets, the young and weak found their revolutionary voices in 1968 and fought to institute governmental changes, but inside this chic apartment another revolution is taking status as well only this one involves fewer persons.
Matthew is clearly enamored of Isabelle and Theo (though this latter relationship isn’t as developed as in “The Holy Innocents”, which I found took away from the storyline) but he is not transfixed by them. He realizes that though they scrutinize the world, they purposely withhold themselves outside of it. Theo’s father correctly observes early in the movie that to understand the world and change it, you have to become section of it. This is a lesson Matthew is constantly aware of and tries to pass on to his unique friends. The first inkling of how grounded he is in this reality comes with the Zippo scene (my accepted) in which his casual observation of how a simple lighter fits into every possible state. Life allows us to fit into many possible spaces as we constantly change and constantly search for the ideal space, but the cosmic lesson in it is that we will fit into them and consequently, will fit ideally into the one we select out. We must allow ourselves to inhabit the spaces and become portion of them in order to test the waters all the while and we do this by leaving the comfort of our unusual place and become section of the overall world.
The sexual relationship between Isabelle and Matthew was passionate, realistic and completely believable. We live in very hypocritical times where nudity has become more taboo than violence and it was a pleasure to glimpse young people making admire with all of the intimate gestures that assume position between lovers. It obviously takes a stout director to pique our cinematic memories and remind us that it takes two nude bodies to produce worship. The nude scenes between the brother and sister were a bit troublesome to the audience I saw this movie with, but the incestual nature of their relationship in the book has been erased. To me, they impartial seemed dangerously, asphixiatingly creep to each other, the nudity being fair portion of said obsession.

All three actors do a sparkling job, but it takes a courageous director to extinguish a film with a police action about to engage spot to the sounds of Edith Piaf’s “Je Ne Regrette Rien”. Bertolucci understands his young protagonists and knows the many errors they will continue to commit before they take and determine what is legal and what is atrocious because he has been there himself. And he regrets nothing. We should all be so lucky.

Words cannot hiss how mighty I cherish this movie, but I will try my best. “Pulp Fiction” is one of my favorites. Quentin Tarantino is a very gifted director/writer. Although I like his directing, I must say it is his writing that really impresses me. But I will find to that later on in this review.
I consider it’s suitable to say that the first time this movie was released on DVD, it was a shrimp more than disappointing. There were no special features, sound and record was so-so; I mean, my laserdisk at least had three different trailers of the movie. So, of course, I was very furious to learn that this movie was being re-released in a fully loaded special edition. Re-buying the movie was well worth it, for this edition of the movie is far pleasurable than the other one.
The movie really consists of three different stories; not in any order. Any one of the stories could be their occupy minute movies. The players are two hitmen, a boxer, the tremendous boss, the vast boss’ wife, a crazy gun store owner, a gimp, a cop named, Zed, a man who makes problems go away, and a minute suitcase with “666″ for the combination. You add all this together and you acquire one hell of a movie.

The acting is more than superb; including one terrific cast with some heavy hitters (Travolta, Jackson, Thurman, Willis, etc.) . Tarantino is a master when it comes to writing and directing. Especially when it comes to writing. I have never heard such clever and brutally unbiased dialogue in any other movie. I have said it before, and I will say it again; Tarantino reminds me of Raymond Carver, except with more humor.
Now, on to the special edition of this DVD. Is it better than the previous version? YES! Tons of special features, and not to forget the fact that the movie has been restored in high definition. Report looks very positive. And the sound is also a lot better. You can ogle the movie in DTS, which is always a reliable thing.
Special features…..where do I initiate? There’s a ton of them! It’s not even amusing how worthy stuff is loaded on this terrible boy. And every one of them is colossal. Features include a documentary, an interview with Tarantino on “The Charlie Rose Reveal,” trailers, filmographies, and many more. If you admire special features, then you will not be disappointed.

“Pulp Fiction” is a spacious movie, and the novel DVD edition is outstanding in every diagram. If you calm have the older DVD of this movie, regain this one now! If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out when you can! Of course, with any other movie, there is a chance you may not like this movie. That’s radiant, nothing unsuitable with that. Don’t let hype slay your preception of the movie, honest spy it as if it were any other movie. You like it, great; if not, well, at least you gave it a shot. Filled with challenging humor, mammoth characters, outstanding dialogue, and some of the craziest surprises and twists, “Pulp Fiction” is a incredible film, and will continue to be one of my favorites.
“Pulp Fiction” is like a unique with five chapters that was ripped apart and assign assist together with the chapters all mixed up in random order — where does it originate and where does it demolish? That said, it’s a hilarious crazy-quilt of a movie, superbly directed by Quentin Tarantino. And yes, there is a straight memoir line throughout… chronologically, the loyal tale begins with Samuel Jackson and John Travolta on their diagram to a hit ordered by their boss Ving Rhames, and ends with Bruce Willis and his pregnant girlfriend zooming out of town on a homicidal maniac’s stolen motorcycle. Each short anecdote in the movie is complete in itself, and yet each makes up fraction of the whole. The actors are terrific. Jackson and Travolta are large as the two hitmen Jules and Vince; Uma Thurman is objective correct as the boss’s wife; Bruce Willis is droll and yet titillating as the boxer who saves the boss’s life after the boss ordered a hit on him, and Harvey Keitel steals the whole movie with his performance as the almost inhumanly efficient Wolf. Even Tarantino himself can’t resist joining the fun and plays the role of Jules’s sometime partner Jimmie, very annoyed at being roused out of bed at the crack of dawn to wait on dispose of a semi-headless corpse. There are so many priceless scenes in this film that it’s hard to choose a well-liked. It’s a wild, crazy, mind-boggling movie that gets better and better each time you gaze it.

Films of reflection are too few and often they resort to tales of climbing to a summit only to watch benefit at the shadows never cast in the greedy bustle for the top and ruin in tragedy. FLASHBACKS OF A FOOL suggests, by its title, that the account may be different, that there may be some redemption at the core of an abusive life.

Writer/director Baillie Walsh sets his chronicle in opening frames of intense sexual, drug accompanied debauchery. But as the credits move, the lead character Joe Scott (Daniel Craig) faces a morning of hung over reality. A wealthy Hollywood star whose lifestyle has hastened his aging, Joe is ‘managed’ by the stern Ophelia (Eve) who is plain of Joe’s wasted lifestyle. Her warnings, as well as Joe’s agent’s confrontation that Joe is too used looking for a recent screenplay, is compounded by a telephone call that Joe’s boyhood friend Boots (Max Deacon) has suddenly died, leaving Joe’s customary first girlfriend Ruth (Claire Forlani) an early widow. Sad and drunk Joe walks his beach and reflects on his youth. The ‘flashback’ tales us to Joe’s teenage years (the young Joe is Harry Eden) with Boots as his closest friend and Ruth (Felicity Jones), the girl Joe craves. But hormones rule and Joe is an easy prey for his married next door neighbor: during one of their trysts a tragedy occurs that results in Joe’s fleeing home for the ’successful’ yet empty life he finds in Hollywood.
At the expect of Joe’s mother (Olivia Williams) he flies assist to England where he is forced to confront the early wound he caused in the lives of his family and friends. Daniel Craig and Harry Eden are agreeable in their mirrored roles of the young and the older Joe. In fact there is not a traditional member of this pleasing British cast. Though the memoir takes situation in England the film was shot in South Africa (cinematographer John Mathieson) and the rickety beach houses on the minute bay where Boots and Joe exhaust their time is picturesque and adds the accurate sense of isolation to the account. At 114 minutes the film goes on a bit too long with areas for editing a bit too determined. But the overall accomplish of FLASHBACKS OF A FOOL is a satisfying scuttle through a memory that holds a light to the incidents of youth that can alter too many lives if not mended. Grady Harp, November 08
There is a shot in “Flashbacks of a Fool” where Daniel Crag is coming down the stairs in the handsome sterility of his Malibu beach house where he stands momentarily in front of a illustrious photography of himself from Sam Taylor-Wood’s Crying Men series. The portrait is so challenging, accurate tears sparkle in the ravaged eyes of Mr. Craig as he tires to shield his face from the camera. This juxtaposition of the portrait with the manic reduce off and out of control movie star, Joe Scott, whom he is playing, says volumes about the film and its theme as well as something about its gifted star.

Director-writer Baillie Walsh has made a gem of a diminutive character driven film that is both deeply meaningful to him and bewitching to the viewer. Kudos to him for bringing this his vision to the camouflage and to producer Craig for lending his star clout, which got this film made.
John Matheison’s cinematography is lush and richly fills the cloak,. The accept by Richard Hartley informs the scenes without overwhelming them. And the editing by Sturan Clay is well done and seamless.
Wonderful performances are turned in by the entire cast with stand outs by Olivia William, Ophelia Franklin (brilliantly rude key performance) and felicity Jones. Yet with a plethora of wonders in this film, huge screenplay, perfect rep with magnificent song choices and lush cinematography the heart and soul of this anecdote belongs to two men.
Harry Eden and Daniel Craig who play the role of young and middle-aged Joe. Mr. Eden is not only a perfect physical choice to play a younger version of Daniel Craig but he has an amazingly originate and shapely talent that matches his older costar. When he is on the conceal you can witness at nothing else. He knows how to project the inner feelings of the character straight out though his laser eyes and into the soul of the camera. A young star on the rise indeed and one can only hope that he will continue in the film business.
Daniel Craig again brings his current talents as an actor to the table as the fading film star whom “Millions of women want” yet who is a lost golden boy sliding into the oblivion of drugs and denial. His appearance in limited films such as this after his international success in “Casino Royale” shows that he is about the work and substance and we can cheer him for it. He is the best actor of his generation, and one of such a range that it leaves one to wonder what will he do next. Late the most distinguished blue eyes in film there is such an extraordinary creature that embodies every emotion from molten rage to the softest tenderest heart. It is our luck and his blessing that he is in the apt business and has the talent and courage to let it all out on the hide.

Gary Cooper was 40 years archaic when he made “Sergeant York,” and his Southern accent is obsolete at best, but those things do not ruin up detracting all that noteworthy from his performance or this film. Directed in 1941 by Howard Hawks, “Sergeant York” has strong propagandistic elements. A whiskey-drinking hell-raiser, Alvin C. York undergoes a religious conversation when lighting strikes his gun and almost kills him. His goal in life becomes getting himself a share of bottom land so he can propose to Gracie Williams (Joan Leslie) . Things go against him, but Alvin holds his temper and does what the Obliging Book relate him to do. Then World War I breaks out and Alvin is drafted. Unable to bag set as a conscientious objector because of his religious beliefs, Alvin has to advance to terms with the obligations of citizenship versus the dictates of scripture. The film is surprisingly even handed in showing Alvin debating the matter with his superiors. In the demolish he comes to the only conclusion possible for men of conscience forced to go to war: killing is justified to do lives.
On the Argonne Forest battlefield Alvin, made a corporal because of his marksmanship, becomes a hero when his unit is trapped and he single-handedly kills 25 and captures 132 prisoners. Called the “greatest civilian solider of the war” by General Pershing, York received the Medal of Honor, France’s Croix de Guerre, and basically every high medal the Allies could bestow upon him. But while the film does a fine job of showing York’s doughty exploits, ultimately it is more about the man that the solider. Cooper’s sense of dignity is well-suited to the role, which gives more weight to York’s life in the hills of Tennessee than to the war in Europe. What he learned benefit home clearly stands Alvin in suitable stead on the battlefield.
The supporting cast of “Sergeant York” is truly outstanding, with George Tobias as “Pusher” Ross, Ward Bond as Ike Botkin and Robert Porterfield as Zeb Andrews. Both Walter Brennan as Pastor Rosier Pile and Margaret Wycherly as Mother York received well deserved Oscar nominations in the supporting category. Brennan marvelously underplays his role as Alvin’s spiritual leader while Wycherly is simply the anchor for the entire film. Mother York says miniature and moves slowly, but everything comes out through her eyes. The scene where Alvin finally gets home from the war and sees his mother at the hiss spot is especially touching: his face lights up completely and her “I’m lawful delighted to discover you, son” is the equivalent of other people crying and screaming for joy. In addition to Cooper winning his first Oscar as Best Actor, William Holmes receives one for Film Editing. This is one of those movies I never secure tired of seeing and it remains the ideal film to glance on Memorial Day.
I’m a native Tennessean, and I grew up hearing stories about one of Tennessee’s greatest war heroes, Sgt. Alvin C. York. There’s even a statue of him at the Nashville capitol. York was one of the most unlikely heroes of World War I, yet he surprised both his comrades and his commanding officers with his reckless bravery in combat. Although the propaganda attain of the movie was intended to obtain America enthusiastic in World War II, the heartfelt performances, especially from oscar winner Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan, do this a must-see classic.

Gary Cooper stars as Alvin C. York, and as the film begins, he and his two drinking pals, Ike (Ward Bond) and Buck (Noah Berry Jr.) are causing mischief in their exiguous community in rural Tennessee. Pastor Pile (Walter Brennan) continually tries to relieve York change his imperfect ways and become a faithful Christian, but York is in no mood for preaching. When Alvin meets handsome young Gracie (Joan Leslie) he immediately falls in treasure and starts working for a local farmer to acquire land so that he can ask Gracie to marry him. But he’s double-crossed by the greedy farmer, who sells the land to York’s worst enemy. Grabbing his rifle, York sets out on a rainy night to consume revenge on the nasty farmer, only to have his gun destroyed by lightning. That’s when Alvin finally realizes that the Lord wants him to change his infamous ways, so he quits drinking and becomes a devout Christian.
The scrape is, unbiased as York is changing his life America declares war on Germany, but he insists on staying out of it, saying “I ain’t a-goin’ to war. War is killin’ and the Book is agin’ killin’, so war is agin’ the Book.” But his draft board won’t listen to his religious outburst and Pastor Pile convinces him to join the army rather than be arrested. Next, York is in France, where his years of hunting experience have made him a crackshot, and he finds himself promoted to corporel. When his itsy-bitsy unit is pinned down during a bloody assault against German machine-gun nests and his superiors are killed or wounded, Alvin takes charge and bravely attacks on his bear, killing at least 20 enemy soldiers and capturing well over a hundred.

York is decorated for gallantry, promoted to sergeant, and returns home to a nation-wide heroes welcome, finally coming benefit to Tennessee where his family and his girlfriend Gracie have a broad surprise of their have. Though the Southern accents in this are a shrimp too forced, and the portrayel of Army officers is blueprint too flattering, this enduring classic has always held a special site in my heart. Beget it or not, powerful of the script is taken directly from Sgt. York’s diary, and York himself served as an advisor throughout the filming. It was York who insisted on Gary Cooper playing his character, and Cooper ended up giving perhaps the strongest performance of his career. I only hope we don’t have to wait worthy longer before this classic gets a dvd release.

Fullmetal Alchemist generated a lot of hype before it was even released in America, and I have to say it lives up to it. This is an instant classic. A reliable companion anime to Fullmetal Alchemist is Scrapped Princess. It hits all the same themes of Fullmetal and is even exciting by the same studio, Bones.
When I first heard about Fullmetal Alchemist I understanding that it was going to be another series aimed at being cute and glad and all that goody goody stuff. To my surprise, and a distinct on at that, this series is anything but. While it seems to be another fantasy series aimed at creating an alternate world with an entirely different design of living (a.k.a, Naruto or most any other anime available), it almost immediately shows that this series is entirely based on it’s characters, and for the most portion, the wretchedness they face. From the Elrich brothers and their loses to Scar and his bad past, it seems nearly every character suffers from some kind of sunless event. It should be foretold that many of the things in the series are grand to extinct for children and that this is a series that isn’t tremulous to earn a miniature evil. Even older viewers may cringe at determined things, and like any estimable series, there are many extremely emotional moments. However, it would be a crime of any anime fan to pass this up. Though it is quite a tragic series, it’s tragedies, along with it’s action, humor, and yes fun (possess it or not, the series is actually quite fun) are the reasons you’ll want to steal it up. As far as technicalities go, it is very well titillating. The action is done excellently (and I am a grand critic of action sequences in anime) and the rest is impartial as agreeable, including L’Arc~en~Ciel’s addicting song for the second portion of the series. Anyways, don’t pass this one up. It is too superb to do so.
